Baguio City, Philippines – May 10, 2025 — The University of the Cordilleras (UC) proudly served as the host institution for the 25th Philippine Computing Science Congress (PCSC 2025), held from May 7 to 10, 2025. The event brought together a vibrant community of computing educators, researchers, students, and ICT professionals from across the country and neighboring regions for four days of innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing.
Organized by the Computing Society of the Philippines (CSP), PCSC 2025 marks a significant milestone in advancing the field of computing and information and communications technology (ICT) in the country. Since its inception, the congress has become the premier annual gathering for scholars and practitioners in computing, computer science, computational science, and ICT-related fields.
This year’s event, hosted within the scenic and academic-rich setting of UC’s Baguio campus, featured a dynamic program that included plenary talks by prominent national and international researchers, concurrent sessions of peer-reviewed contributed papers, and engaging panel discussions that addressed emerging trends and challenges in digital technologies.
Among the key highlights were keynote lectures by leading experts in artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. These sessions not only enriched participants’ understanding of the evolving computing landscape but also underscored the critical role of computing in national development, innovation, and education.
Dr. Thelma D. Palaoag, UC’s Director for Innovation and Technology Transfer and Chair of the PCSC 2025 Local Organizing Committee, emphasized the importance of the event in fostering regional participation and inclusivity in computing research. “Hosting PCSC 2025 reflects our commitment to supporting innovation, research excellence, and collaboration in computing across the country,” she noted.
More than 200 participants representing academic institutions, government agencies, and the ICT industry attended the event, presenting research on topics ranging from machine learning applications and smart systems to computing education, digital heritage, and software engineering.
In line with its institutional vision of being a sustainable and globally engaged university, UC’s hosting of PCSC 2025 directly supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By providing a platform for knowledge exchange and research collaboration in computing and ICT, UC reaffirms its role in nurturing solutions-oriented education and fostering innovation ecosystems that contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.
The University of the Cordilleras, known for its strong academic programs in computing and ICT, transformed its campus into a hub of intellectual exchange and innovation throughout the congress. Exhibits, poster presentations, and student competitions added vibrancy to the event, showcasing the talent and creativity of Filipino computing scholars.
As PCSC 2025 concluded, participants expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality of the host institution and the stimulating environment it provided for advancing scholarly discourse and building professional networks. The success of the congress reaffirms the role of UC and the Computing Society of the Philippines in shaping the future of computing research and education in the Philippines and beyond.
