The College of Information Technology and Computer Science (CITCS) College Student Council, in collaboration with the UC Animators’ Guild, joined the Handog ng Panagbenga sa Pamilya Baguio 2025 at the Melvin Jones Grandstand in Baguio City.
Through the “CITCS in Bloom” booth, the student organizations brought together art, culture, and technology in a vibrant space for families, friends, and visitors. Guests enjoyed the floral-themed photobooth, where they captured memorable moments inspired by the spirit of Panagbenga. Visitors also expressed their creativity through the Digital Art Freedom Wall, which provided an interactive platform for artistic participation.
Beyond celebration and entertainment, the activity supported sustainability by promoting cultural appreciation, community engagement, and inclusive creative expression. By participating in a major local cultural event, CITCS helped strengthen awareness of Baguio City’s traditions and identity, contributing to the preservation of the community’s cultural heritage.
The use of a Digital Art Freedom Wall also demonstrated how technology can encourage creative participation in a more paper-conscious manner. Rather than relying solely on printed materials, the activity used digital interaction to provide visitors with an accessible space to share their ideas and artwork.
The initiative aligns particularly with Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, as it supports the protection and promotion of local culture and community participation.
CITCS extends its gratitude to everyone who visited the booth and shared their smiles, stories, and creativity. Through art, technology, and community involvement, CITCS continues to bloom alongside Baguio City’s culture and sustainability efforts.
