UC Launches Greenovation Initiatives for a Zero-Waste and Sustainable Campus

The University of the Cordilleras will officially launch its Greenovation Projects and Initiatives on July 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the UC Gymnasium. The grand launching invites all UCians to take part in activities that promote a zero-waste, eco-friendly, and sustainable campus.

The event will feature interactive booths from UC offices, student organizations, and partner institutions. These booths will showcase sustainability action plans, practical do-it-yourself ideas, and eco-friendly products that encourage responsible consumption and environmental awareness. Participants may also join seminars and workshops focused on sustainable living and campus-based environmental practices.

The College of Information Technology and Computer Science (CITCS) is encouraged to actively participate in this university-wide initiative. As a college that develops future technology professionals, CITCS can contribute by promoting digital solutions that support environmental responsibility, such as paperless systems, energy-efficient computing practices, sustainable technology projects, and awareness campaigns that use technology to encourage greener habits.

Through the Greenovation Initiatives, UC strengthens its commitment to sustainability by involving students, faculty, offices, and partner organizations in building a campus culture that values environmental stewardship. The initiative also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

All UCians, especially members of the CITCS community, are invited to participate and contribute ideas toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable University of the Cordilleras.
