The University of the Cordilleras – July 4, 2024 – College of Information Technology and Computer Science (UC CITCS) proudly announces the successful copyright registration of two student-developed mobile applications under the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) for the year 2024.
These registrations recognize the creativity and research capabilities of UC CITCS students in developing technology-based solutions that contribute to healthcare advancement and the preservation of indigenous culture.

Both applications were granted lifetime protection, valid for the life of the last surviving author plus fifty (50) years, ensuring long-term recognition and safeguarding of intellectual property rights.

This milestone underscores UC CITCS’s commitment to cultivating a research-driven and innovation-focused academic environment in collaboration with the UC Innovation and Technology Transfer Office (InTTO). Through active mentorship and support, the college empowers students to transform their ideas into impactful, IP-protected technologies that address real-world challenges and contribute to sustainable national development.
The successful IP registrations also positively impact the UC CITCS department by enhancing its reputation as a center of innovation and research excellence. They provide a benchmark for students and faculty to pursue high-quality, research-based projects and foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. The recognition of these innovations also strengthens departmental capacity for mentorship, encourages cross-disciplinary research, and positions CITCS graduates as industry-ready professionals with practical problem-solving skills and intellectual property awareness.
